Survey Results
A while ago I asked you what you wanted and how you wanted it.
Many thanks to all those who filled out the online survey.
If you haven't done the survey yet then do it now. I will leave it up for the next week and then it will be gone - along with the bonus. Click here to do the survey.
The survey yielded a huge amount of interesting stuff.
Some highlights were:
74% of you want inspirational stories and 65% want tools and ideas so that you can apply what you are learning and take your adventures (and your lives in general) to even greater heights.
You really like reports and articles as a way of getting information, along with e-news (hence me getting my act together and sending this out).
And you are intrigued by the idea of "critical moments" and you want more.
If you want to hear even more about the survey and how it will affect what we are offering take a look at my latest blog
Being invincible - or not
Some of us adventurers think we are invincible.
We head along to the Banff Film Festival as I did last week (very cool adventure films that tour the world - definitely worth checking out) and we see outrageous acts of adventure. We get all excited and rush off into our favourite adventure, only to be humbled.
So here is where I have a confession to make. As many of you would have seen, I got VERY excited about surfing my sea kayak after a really awesome weekend. Video of it is on my blog (scroll down to see it).
The sad part is that shortly after that I was surfing my sea kayak near my home in Wellington - and right in front of a cafe audience - and I canned out. No big deal really. Except that my shoulder was a "bit sore". It turned out to be a rotator cuff tear of the shoulder ligament.
I tried being in denial. Pretending I was fine and telling myself to "harden up". Amazingly my body did not hear this and decided to go on strike.
So, I have been suffering because I am not out doing my favourite adventure sport.
It is a humbling thing to be reminded that we are not invincible. And my suspicion is that there are many like me that get all excited about adventures only to find out their body will not cooperate. I talked to someone today who remarked that when they were injured they coped with it by going on a shopping spree - turned out to be an expensive time.
One of my strategies is to become an avid reader of adventure books and articles. What do you do? If there is interest in this we could set up a blog on the subject and get people's comments - let me know if you think this is a good idea. Email me at sarah@adventurecoaching.co.nz
What's next?
It has been great to get all your comments and get a better sense of what it is you want.
One comment I really enjoyed was the following:
Love reading about your trips and adventures, one day....it could be me :)
I think that is the whole point. My motivation here is to create inspirational adventure material so that you are inspired to get out there. Not just in terms of adventures in the outdoors but also inner adventures. The kind that make a difference in our world.
I hope you've enjoyed this e-news. Your feedback is always welcome.
Wishing you a life of adventure and inspiration
