All the Bluster and the Bottle
Mike M in the Nerve Centre of the Communications Tent at ABC For the past 30 hours it has blown and snowed incessantly. As I write this some blue sky emerges and perhaps the promise of a forecasted fine morning tomorrow will come true. Today was planned to be a rest day and everyone was more than happy to chill. Eating the largest breakfast possible was how the day started and there is no competing with the volume of food Lucas can eat, followed closely by Andrew.
We then debriefed the adventures of the previous 48 hours after overnighting at Camp 1. Thomas graciously took everyone's beer orders for our return to Kathmandu, after the delayed start at Camp 1. We then packed food for our planned stay at Camp 1.5 and then Camp 2 due to take place in the next three days.
Mike M hitting the bottle(s) Despite the weather, our Sherpa Team staged the rest of our summit oxygen at Camp 1. Meanwhile Sange Dorje returned from Chinese Base Camp after dropping John and Stephen off yesterday afternoon. We heard that John and Stephen made it to Kathmandu at 2.00pm today and will be departing for home tomorrow. The Team wishes them both our hearty best and your company and presence on the mountain will be missed. Have a good one guys and 'see you in the soup bowl' of alpine adventures. So much for sunshine to have showers and do washing on this rest day! So our plan, weather permitting is to go back up to C1 tomorrow, on the 18th Camp 1.5 and on the 19th Camp 2 and then back to ABC on the 20th. We plan to send dispatches from on the hill.
Julian passes on the following message to Juliet: "I promise you wont have to march around in CCF Boots next year!". Best Wishes to All Mike R for the AC Cho Oyu Team
