Advanced Base Camp Chill

Mike paying the porters for taking gear to Camp 1
Hi everyone. Its been a reasonably quiet day here at base camp. The Tibetan porters arrived into camp early this morning to collect everyone's duffel bags to take up to Camp 1. Our Sherpa team also left for Camp 1 early this morning and have been pitching the tents and establishing our camp site. We will use Camp 1 as a staging point for our trips higher on the mountain.

We will be leaving tomorrow morning for our first night at Camp 1 This morning we organised food and talked about snow camping skills, cooking in tents at altitude, and clothing layering systems/thermoregulation for higher on the mountain.

Stephen, Lucas, Andrew, and Josef watching DVD's
This afternoon we are resting, with some of the team watching DVD's, while others are using the spare time to have a shave and shower. Unfortunately there has been a chest bug/infection that has been going around and we have a couple of team members and two Sherpas trying to recover from this. We are hopeful that they can make a full recovery and will be able to complete the climb.

As usual it is snowing again here this afternoon, this seems to be the normal pattern, we awake to clear blue skies, and then at around 1pm the sky clouds over and it starts snowing lightly. In general the weather has been very good with light winds at all levels on the mountain. We hope this good weather will continue.

That's all for now, we will be sending a dispatch tomorrow night with our PDA

from Camp 1 at 6400m.

Mike M for the AC team.
