Puja Day
This morning, stormy clouds capped the peaks around us as we sat in the sun at ABC while our Puja was performed. The Puja is a Tibetan Buddhist ceremony praying for safe passage and success during the course of our expedition. The ceremony was headed by one of our Climbing Sherpas Dawa Zangbu who was closely supported in reciting the scriptures by our entire Sherpa team. During the ceremony a pole is erected from the center of the Puja Altar and from this, colorful prayer flags radiate out around our camp. Auspiciously, midway through the Puja, the summit of Cho Oyu appeared. It was a peaceful and relaxing ceremony that means our Sherpa Team are spiritually prepared to go high on the mountain. After yesterdays hard trip to Camp 1 rest is appreciated. Clothes cleaning, a movie afternoon and packing our Camp 1 gear for Tibetan Porters to carry tomorrow were all part of the day. To allow full recovery and acclimatization we have decided to spend one more day at ABC tomorrow. Hi to folks back home Mike R for the AC Team
