I have noticed myself being a bit obsessive about the news this week. I watch it on TV. And I am on my computer checking news websites. As events unfold it seems that all I can do is watch.
And it seems that a lot rides on what happens. At least that is what the media are telling us.
So, what do we do when it feels like we have no control over events that could significantly affect our lives?
I apologise in advance if this blog seems long. Given the times we are in and the impact of what I am finding out I figured you might give me a bit more space.
Understanding critical moments has become something of a passion for me. And I have been working hard to get it all down in an
e-book . And it should be launched next week. (If you haven't already done so then make sure you
get on the list for early notification)
However, I want to give you a glimpse of what I am discovering. It has to do with one critical word “
focus”.
What we focus on has an enormous influence on our actions and the results we get. However, there is a trick here. And it was only as I was reading some research this week that it dawned on me.
It is not just what we focus on, it is what we choose NOT to focus on.
Roland Carlstedt is a psychologist who has studied Sports Performance in intricate detail. Reading his material is a bit like wading through treacle. However, one sentance stood out.
“the ‘mentally toughest’ athletes are predicted to be those who are capable of suppressing negative psychological influences when it counts the most”.
The top performers are choosing
not to focus on failure, defeat or fear in moments when things hang in the balance.
I’m not going to say much more except to suggest that you notice where your focus is as Wall Street does its dance this week.
If you want to know more then make sure you read the
Free Special Report and
get on the list for early notification of the e-book. It is going to be very timely given all that is going on in the world right now.
Oh, and do put your comments below – what do you think?
